The Lions swept the weekend home and home series against Long Beach with a 5-2 victory on the road Friday night. LBSU would score first, with a deflection finding its way into the net. The Lions would answer back with only 4 seconds left in the first, as Fink fired home a rebound on the power play. In the 2nd, LBSU would score early on another deflection to take a 2-1 lead, but that was it for the Beach. The Lions’ Keith Lawton would continue his impressive weekend with 2 goals in the second to give LMU a 3-2 lead at the 2nd break. In the third, Trevor Tracy would poke in the third rebound attempt halfway into the third, and then he’d finish the game with an empty net goal. The win clinched the third playoff spot in the WCHC playoffs, which the Lions will be hosting next weekend. LMU will now face CSUN in the WCHC semi-finals on Friday.
