Lions Sweep Washington Trip

The Lions swept their trip to Spokane, WA, with 3 wins in less than 48 hours.

On Friday, the Lions beat Gonzaga in their home opener, 6-1.  The Lions controlled play throughout, with captain Matt Boente scoring 4 goals, and freshman Jake Herzog picking up 2 goals.  The Lions played their most complete game of the season, even in front of a large hostile crowd of Gonzaga fans.

On Saturday, the Lions again beat Gonzaga, 4-1.  Matt Boente again shined, scoring two goals.  Max Jarrell and Athan Tsokolas picked up the other goals, and the Lions skated to the victory.

On Sunday, the Lions took on University of Idaho, and the slow paced game went to the Lions 4-1.  Freshman Jake Benson opened the scoring, with Greg Bennett, Jake Herzog, and Matt Boente scoring to give the Lions a 4-0 lead early in the third.

The Lion’s goalies played well all weekend, with Mike Zanini picking up 2 wins, and Jake Blazier picked up a win in his first game of the year.

The Lions are back in action on Thursday, as they travel to take on UCLA.
