Lions Win Big at Annual Awards

The Lions won big in a few end of season awards, including winning back to back “Best Club Sport” at LMU.

Austin Billings won the “Best Male Athlete” for his great sophomore season, scoring 46 points in 26 games (24G, 22A).  He now sits at 11th all time in scoring in team history, with two seasons left to play.  Austin also joined an elite group this season, as one of only five players to register at least 70 points in his first two seasons on the team, and he ended up with 82 points after his first two seasons.

The Lions were also honored to have six players make the ACHA All Academic team.  This honor goes to any upperclassmen who has a minimum of a 3.2 GPA cumulative in their time at the school.  The six upperclassmen who made the All Academic team this year were: Joost Aalmans, Eric Anderson, Thomas Bennett, Jason Footlick, Jake Herzog and Austin Walsh.

The team was also honored to be named as “Best Club Sport” on campus for the third time in team history.  This great honor goes to a team that not only performs well on the field/rink, but also to a team that bonds well outside of the sport and completes all necessary requirements on time.  The team also won this award in 2019, and 2015.
