Teddy Bear Toss collects 301 Stuffed Animals

The Annual Christmas game collected a record number of Teddy Bears last Saturday, with 301 stuffed animals tossed on the ice.  In the first period, Greg Bennett fired a shot from the point that snuck through a screen and into the net.  Almost immediately the bears were sent flying over the offensive zone glass and onto the ice.

The previous record for Teddy Bears collected was 116, so this years collection almost tripled the previous record.  The players from the team helped collect the bears so they could be bagged to be donated.

The bears, and the proceeds from the sold “Mean Girls” styled Christmas Jerseys will be donated to the Richstone Family foundation, which help kids who have experienced abuse.

The Lions finished the semester by beating LBSU 9-3, and have a first semester record of 11-6-1.  The Lions had a strong semester, beating 2nd Ranked Providence in the Beehive Classic and playing their toughest schedule in years.  The second semester sees a trip to Washington, conference playoffs and a potential ACHA Regionals trip.
