Lion’s Complete Sweep of Trojans

The Lions swept all three games from USC this season, winning the final contest 3-2 in a game that came down to the wire. The Lions would score first, as new comer Kory Medeiros scored late in the first on the power play. USC would take a 2-1 lead late in the 2nd as the Lions ran into penalty trouble, taking 12 penalties in the game. Late in the 2nd, Ethan Fink took the puck from the LMU end and went coast to coast to tuck it in and tied the game 2-2. Medeiros would score the eventual game winner on a power play midway through the third, as he finally put it in through a screen with the Lions firing shots at the USC net. The game had an exciting ending as the Lions took two penalties on one play with 1 minute to go, and had to finish the win off killing a 5 on 3 penalty kill. Freshman William Sitzman netted the win, while making key saves throughout, including a point blank save on the penalty kill in the final minute. The Lions have now swept the Trojans for four straight years. The Lions look to extend their win streak as they take on UCLA on Tuesday night, in the Kings College Cup semi final.
