The Lions looked to tie the game late against 7th ranked Denver on Saturday night. The Lions, playing their toughest competition of the year, put together a strong effort with a short bench, and limited Denver’s speed all night. Denver would score first, but late in the first Matt Boente set up Matt Dolegowski who scored on a breakaway. After the first, Denver led 3-1, and made it 4-1 part way through the 2nd. Late in the second, goalie Jake Blazier stood on his head and the Lions chipped it out for a breakaway for CJ Geeza, who made it 4-2 after 2. In the third, Denver would score early, but Matt Boente would fire home a goal to make it 5-3. The Lions pulled the goalie but Denver fired a long shot into the empty net to seal the game 6-3. The Lions have their Senior Night next Thursday as they host UCLA.
