The D3 Lions had their first game in their history, against D2 CSU Fullerton. In a loud at packed arena for Fullerton’s home opener, the game got physical fast. CSUF would score first to go up 1-0, but Jake McMillan would tie the game two minutes later on an assist from Smolyanoy. The Lions would trail 2-1, and tie it 2-2 in the final seconds of the first as James Brown capitalized on a turn over in front of the net.
That however would be the end of scoring for the Lions, and they’d go on to fall to Fullerton. It was an exciting, loud and hard hitting game.
