Women’s Hockey Begins in Victory

The Women’s hockey program at LMU is off to a rapid start, and played their first game in program history on Sunday, beating USC 2-0.

The Lions, who will join the ACHA W1 level next season, are thrilled with the performance of the current team.  The Lions got on the board first, as freshman Sarah Gallant snuck through the defense and slid home the eventual winning goal for the Lions.

A strong backcheck kept the Trojans off the board, and the Lions were able to extend their lead in the second period.

A strong defensive effort kept the puck out of the net, and the Lions are thrilled their first game in program history came with a victory.

A fun fact, the mens program first game was exactly 20 years and 1 week earlier, where the start up LMU Men’s team also beat USC, also 2-0.

The women’s team is excited for our incoming recruiting class, and to get playing ACHA hockey!
